FAQs

Can I sleep in a menstrual cup?

icon

You can wear your menstrual cup which makes it a safe option to sleep in. You only have to be concerned if you have a heavy flow and may require to change it sooner than that. You'll be able to understand it better once you start using the menstrual cup and keep note of the flow of your cycle.

What do I do if my menstrual cup is stuck?

icon

Don't panic if you feel that your cup is stuck. Stay calm & gently squeeze the body of the cup between your finger and thumb (several times) to try & break the rim's seal and then gently pull the cup outwards. If this doesn't work, run your finger up to the rim and press inwards to allow some air to pass between the cup's rim and the surface it has suctioned onto, then pull out gently.

Can menstruators under 18 years use a menstrual cup?

icon

You can start using menstrual cups as per your comfort & as soon as you have your first-period cycle. Pee Safe's Menstrual Cups are available in three sizes Small, Medium, & Large. Hence, we recommend our Small cup for menstruators under 18.

Will it widen the vagina?

icon

Vaginal muscles are very elastic, which means a menstrual cup will not cause the vagina to stretch out. It simply stretches to make space for the cup and goes back to its original size when the menstrual cup is pulled out.

Can I reuse the same menstrual cup by washing?

icon

Yes, you can reuse the same menstrual cup during your cycle by just washing it with Menstrual Cup Wash and water. But, always remember to sterilize the menstrual cup before your next cycle.

Is the menstrual cup safe?

icon

Our menstrual cups are made of 100% Medical Grade Silicone which is BPA & Latex free and has no toxins. Pee Safe menstrual cups have gone through extensive testing to give you the safest experience.

Can I pee or should I remove the menstrual cup?

icon

Pee in peace with the menstrual cup inside, you don't have to remove it every time you pee. Just always remember to sanitize the toilet seat with Pee Safe Toilet Seat Sanitizer before sitting and clean yourself properly after peeing to avoid contracting an infection.

Know more about menstrual cup

icon

  • What is the reason for leakage?
  • - If the menstrual cup isn't placed properly inside the vaginal canal, it can leak. Make sure the menstrual cup 'pops' open inside once you have inserted it, otherwise the vacuum won't be created & the seal won't work.

  • How to prevent spillage?
  • - When you take the menstrual cup out remember to angle it sideways to take one half of the cup first followed by the other half so that the blood doesn't spill out. It may be a little messy in the beginning, but once you get the hang of it, you'll be able to perfectly remove it with no leaks.

  • How to remove stains?
  • -Often times the discoloration you see can be surface stains. Use Pee Safe Menstrual Cup Wash with a cloth to scrub your cup. You can also sun-dry the cup after sterilizing it.

  • Can Virgins use menstrual cups?
  • - Yes, any menstruator can use a menstrual cup.

  • Can I get an infection?
  • - Infections are caused by bacteria which invade your tissue. Neither the cup nor the blood, but unhygienic practices can lead to infection. To reduce the risk of any infections, always follow these rules: 1. Avoid wearing your cup for more than 12 hours. 2. Always wash your menstrual cup with Menstrual Cup Wash and water before inserting it. Make sure the wash is completely washed out. 3. Always wash your hands before inserting & removing the cup, as germs can transfer from your hands.

  • Can I get TSS(Toxic shock syndrome) from a menstrual cup?
  • - No period product has zero risk of TSS(Toxic shock syndrome). But, by following healthy menstrual hygiene practices and changing your cup frequently the chances can be reduced. Our menstrual cup is made of 100% Medical Grade Silicone, which is BPA free and has no toxins, making it safe to use. If you feel any discomfort or pain during your menstrual cycle, then consult your doctor immediately and discontinue use of the product.

  • Is it difficult to remove?
  • - The menstrual cup has a 'stem' at the end of it to assist you in removing your cup. Once you're a pro, you won't even need the stem as it's possible to pull it out by pinching the base as well.

  • Does it hurt?
  • - If inserted properly, the menstrual cup should not hurt you. It may be a little uncomfortable at first, but just like a tampon, once inserted, you will not even feel it inside you. Remember to point your cup towards your tailbone and not upwards. Make sure it sits low in the vaginal canal.

  • Can teens use menstrual cups?
  • - You can start using Menstrual Cups as early as your periods start. Pee Safe Menstrual Cup comes in 3 sizes - S, M, and L. The Small size is recommended for teens which has a capacity of up to 16 ml.

  • Can the blood flow back inside?
  • - It is not possible for your blood to flow back, as the muscles of the uterus are actively pushing blood out from the cervix. Even if you were upside down, the blood wouldn't flow back. So, you don't have to worry about that.

  • Why should the stem be inside?
  • - The stem should be inside the vagina, else it can irritate you while you sit or move. When a menstrual cup is inserted, you shouldn't be able to feel it at all!

  • Does it cause irritation while jogging and exercising?
  • - No! When inserted properly, you won't even feel the cup inside of you, making it very comfortable to use while performing any physical activities and even swimming.

  • How do I know if the cup is placed properly?
  • - The cup needs to create suction when placed properly. While inserting through one of the various folds, make sure the cup 'pops' inside you. You can feel the base of the cup to check if it has opened up. Giving it a gentle tug will also help you understand if the cup is in place.

  • Can I use lube on my cup?
  • - We would suggest you only wet the cup with water before insertion to make it less dry and easier. Do not use silicone-based lubricants, coconut oil or Vaseline to lubricate the cup as these degrade the quality of the cup. If you must use a lubricant, choose a water-based one.

  • Will blood leak from the pipe?
  • - The 'pipe' at the end is not a pipe, it's a 'stem' which means there's no hole to allow blood to flow through. The stem is there to assist in the removal of the cup.

  • Can a cup fall out of you?
  • - No! Once properly inserted, the cup creates suction inside and stays fixed inside the vagina. When you're ready to change it, all you have to do is tug at the stem and pinch it to release the suction and pull it out.

  • Tampons or pads?
  • - This is an entirely personal preference! Some people prefer cups, some prefer tampons, and others prefer pads. We suggest you try it out and figure out what your body is comfortable with. However, cups are a more economical and sustainable menstrual product alternative.

  • What is the size of the stem of the menstrual cup?
  • - The size of the stem of our menstrual cup is 10.29± 0.3mm. The size of the stem remains the same for all the variants of the cup.

  • Why does your menstrual cups lasts for only 5 years while some other company's last for 10 years?
  • - Menstrual Cups last until they don't experience any wear & tear. Even though some discoloration may occur, but your cup is still safe to use. As per our brand guidelines, the minimum tenure we recommend to use the cup is 5 years for safety & hygiene concerns.
